Fearless...

We have been doing a lot of swimming around here. Ava really doesnt know what to think of the beach, the water goes on forever and the sand is all over the place. She really likes the pool in our complex though. She has been enjoying swimming with her family and showing how much she loves the waters.

She has even been jumping in the deep in and showing off her skills. LOL she doesnt mind having her head under the water, or a little water in the face. Hailey doesnt either. They both will dip their faces in the water, look up and smile, and do it all over again.

Food, Food, and more Food

So anyone that has been on vacation knows that the food is one of the best parts. You go out to eat, no clean up, and wonderful food you normally wouldnt be eating at home. The girls have been having a blast eating pretty much anything they want. I am trying to keep them on a semi normal schedule with the meals but the snacks have been plentiful.

We have had ice cream while in Beaufort, cookies, and lots of Puffs for the little ones. Hailey has ate more table food than she has until this point in her little life. She has tasted french fries, oatmeal cookie, ice cream, chips, and she has stolen cups from the bigger girls to get a taste of lemonade, mt dew, coke, and other juices.

A Big Change....

Man, vacationing with little ones is a lot different than when we last took a vacation here at the beach. It was 5 years ago, we weren't even engaged yet. We spent the week doing whatever we wanted to, sleeping in, and going to bed late (stayed up many nights just talking to my soon to be sister in law).

This year has been great, I wouldn't trade this for the world. Life before my kids was nice, but who knew how amazing it could get with them here. It's just a big change. We now are scheduling everything around naps, attitudes, and the safety of our kids to not be in the sun. I certainly am not staying up too late, and Ms. Hailey is getting up early but thankfully not as early as she usually does. I have slept in until after 6am most days. How awesome is that?!

We have enjoyed the beach, yet they still arent really old enough to enjoy it to the full max. Ava is loving the sand but not too sure about the 'big pool' as she calls it. She is really enjoying the pool. She is soaking in all the attention of having her uncles, mommy and daddy, grandma and grandpa all week.

So a few more days left of no work, no rushing around, no worries.

She's Up and She's Gone

Hailey is really getting fast with this whole crawling thing. At almost 9 months old, she is starting to try to stand on her own. My little baby is going from sitting on the ground and trying to free stand. It's so hard to believe that soon she will be walking. She is fast at being in the middle of anything going on in the house. She is almost always right by Ava, where ever she is at in the house. She has found the stairs and can climb them quick.

She is fearless just like Ava was at this age. She just goes. She smiles and laughs the whole way also. She's starting to really rough house with Ava and play. It's taken a long time, I know it has felt like forever to Ava who has wanted her to play since day one of bringing her home. Kenny and I are just waiting until she walks. It shouldnt be much longer, she wants to go so bad, she will watch everyone playing and jump up on her knees and reach out with her arms.

It is very awesome to watch my girls interacting and playing. Its nice to watch them have their sweet moments and also funny to watch when they are fighting over a toy. We just have to keep reminding Ava that Hailey is still a baby, even though she is almost as tall as her and probably weighs as much as she does.

Two Teeth

Well the 2nd tooth has finally broken through. It must not have hurt Hailey because there wasnt much whining with this one. It is so cool to see her with a few teeth in. Ava was 11 months before she got her 1st tooth.

But now we have to remind Ava that she still ONLY has 2 teeth, not a mouth full as she tries to feed Hailey snacks and dinner.

Now lets see how long it takes before she bites Ava.....it should be interesting and fun to see how and when the rest of her teeth come in.

The Upstairs Bathroom

Our remodel is still going on, even though I havent said a word about for a while. Once we got moved up there, we kinda stopped and got busy with other stuff. Now we are getting back into the swing of things. Trying to get everything just the way we want it.

Kenny worked on our upstairs bathroom to get it working and able to be used. He put tile down and painted. We also purchased a new vanity. I want to pick out a mirror to go on the wall then put up all the frog decor that I have.

The Lights went OUT

So last week, we had a hellish storm that swept acrossed the state and blacked our area. It happened a little before 10, the girls were asleep and my bedroom was already beginning to get hot. My brother in law offered to come get us since Kenny was working. Anyone who's hubby works at night, my best to you because sometimes it is very annoying. So off we went to my in laws. They have a spar room that fit us comfortably since we co-sleep when Kenny is at work. I fed Hailey a bottle to help her drift off to sleep and Ava was a few minutes after it went dark again. They actually went back to sleep a lot quicker than I thought they would after getting woken up and moved to a whole new place.

That morning, still no power, we headed home to wait on Kenny to get home. The girls were happy to be home but it was getting warmer and warmer in here. So we made a few calls and found out that my mom had power. So she let us come spend the day at her house. The girls loved it. My niece was there while Jessica worked so the girls got to play.

Kenny and I made our way back home that afternoon to gather food from our freezer to take to moms. We used my 'Making Memories Thermal Tote' from my Thirty-One collection to put a lot of stuff in. I loved that we had it. Kenny actually just put it in the deep freezer at moms.

We were one of the lucky one, our power came back on that evening. My sisters power did not return until Tuesday and my Dad's didnt come back on until Wednesday.

I hope we dont have another storm like that for a while. The wind was crazy, the lightning lit up the whole sky, I could see the neighbors house like the sun was shining. If it does, I can only hope my husband is home so I have a little help with the girls.

The 4th of July

We pretty much spent all day of the 4th inside. It was hot and I cleaned while the girls played. That evening we were invited to join our cousin's the Collis Clan at their annual 4th of July Celebration. This celebration is held in Zack and Jessica's field and they watch all the random fireworks in the valley. Ava had a blast. Hailey played in her walker and watched everyone.

Ava and Ella playing with balloons

It did get cut short by the storm that came but until then it was fun. We got to spend time with family, catch up with friends I havent spoken to in a while, and see the kids. They are all growing way too fast.
I hope everyone had a great and safe time.

A Connection Gone

Last Wednesday the 27th was the last time we got to speak with Grandma. Vickie's mother passed away in her sleep in the early morning of the 28th. She was 86 years old. Ava is a little too young to quite understand what happened but she knows Grandma is gone, 'not here' as she told me when I picked her up that Friday. She just looked at her recliner and pointed.

When I heard the news, we had known it was only a matter of time, how long can you go without eating or drinking? Well Grandma went 5 weeks without food and 4 days without liquid. She put up a good fight but her body knew what it was doing and let her go in a peaceful way. In a way that Vickie had prayed many nights for.

That evening, we tried to figure out daycare for the girls, I figured Vickie would want some time. We spoke with each other about how Ava might take the news. We didnt know how to explain it without having anything to show her to explain it. So I told Kenny we would just wait until we got to Vickies and she saw that Grandma's chair was empty.

That morning, Vickie showed Ava the chair, told her Grandma had gone to live with Jesus at his house in Heaven. Ava said 'ok' and went to play with Vickie's granddaughters.

There was no 'why?' which Ava is famous for. There was no questioning. Did she really understand? Who knows? But she accepted the answer. She never does this.

But Grandma is with her husband, Bucky, and her 5 brothers, and her son in law. She outlived all these men.

She will be remembered by many, for her faith, her loving personality, her dedication to her family, but we only knew her for the last 6 months. I didnt get to have long conversations with her, I wasn't invited into her home, but I did get to speak to her in the mornings, Ava took care of her. Ava tried to make her eat at the end, helped with her baths, and loved her. Even if Ava doesnt remember her I will try to have remember with memories.

God Rest her Sole. She is in Heaven with Him. All her pain is gone. She is smiling and happy.

This is the poem that the family chose for her card at the funeral.

God Saw You Getting Tired
God saw you getting tired
and a cure was not to be
so he put his arms around you
and whispered,
"Come to Me"
With tearful eyes we watched you
and saw you pass away
and although we love you dearly
we could not make you stay.
A Golden heart stopped beating
hard working hands at rest.
God broke our hearts to prove to us
He only takes the best

I think it suits how she went, peacefully in her sleep, with her family with her, in her daughters home, being taken care of the best they knew how.
